Microsoft Corporation is a public multinational corporation headquartered in Redmond, Washington. The company's main focus is manufacturing various products, mostly relating to computers. In 2002, the company created Microsoft Game Studios, with the Xbox project being released in the same year.
Rare Buyout[]
In 2003, Microsoft bought out Rare from Nintendo. Although not completely owned by the company, 51% of Rare is fully owned by Microsoft. Rare now is only able to create games for Microsoft's Xbox and Xbox 360 consoles, as well as only Nintendo's Nintendo DS handheld gaming device.
